I'm delighted to see that Blarney Toastmasters Club have had an excellent start to their season. They began the season with an open night, especially geared towards guests, and the turnout was really good. Now three meetings in - their room at the Woollen Mills Hotel has been full to capacity each night, and the meetings have been alive with excitement. Blarney Tidy Towns
Cork County Council launched the Anti-Litter Challenge competition 2011, which took place in the County Hall on the 23rd May at 10.00am.The objectives for the competition are to reduce litter pollution in the county as a whole and to encourage community involvement in the solutions to litter pollution. A driver with Avondhu Blackwater Partnerships’ Rural Transport Scheme was involved in a life saving situation that resulted in a man being rushed to hospital and receiving emergency aid. Mr. Larry Horgan who has been a driver for the Scheme for several years was due to collect an elderly passenger from his home in the Tower area but when he did not show Mr. Horgan became concerned and decided to make sure nothing was wrong.
