Blarney Tidy Towns

Cork County Council launched the Anti-Litter Challenge competition 2011, which  took place in the County Hall on the 23rd May at 10.00am.The objectives for the competition are to reduce litter pollution in the county as a whole and to encourage community involvement in the solutions to litter pollution. Similar to last year; the competition will be run over a 6 week period. Last year we did not do so well, but after the 1st. round of judging, we are currently in 3rd. place. Congratulations to all involved, including the Blarney Community Employment people, Tidy Towns volunteers and many others. Thanks to all involved.

The flower boxes and planters have been recently done and hopefully with some fine weather, will show off the village in a better light. Thanks to Olwyn Venn and Tidy Towns volunteers for their help and support.

Recently, Kevin O’Connell and Super Valu made us a presentation of litter pickers, bags, gloves etc to Blarney Tidy Towns. Many thanks
